Dejan Duric, a smiling individual with curly hair and a beard

Hi, I'm Dejan Durić, a PhD candidate in American Culture and Anthropology at the University of Michigan. Through my research, I explore how American cultural influences shape the identities, behaviors, and language practices of Eastern European youth. I am passionate about empowering young people and addressing challenges such as youth emigration.

As an educator, I have taught courses in American Culture, Anthropology, Social Theory, and Rhetoric and Composition. It's been rewarding to engage with students from diverse backgrounds and foster critical thinking.

Beyond academia, I actively engage in community work in Bosnia and Herzegovina, creating platforms for youth expression and organizing cultural events that promote inclusivity, diversity, and social change.

I am dedicated to making a positive impact by contributing to talent retention and community revitalization. My academic journey focuses on youth culture, empowerment, and understanding the complex dynamics between global influences and local contexts.
